Returning forward Jamie Elliott<\/a> has starred with a six-goal haul to help Collingwood end a three-match losing streak in a win over the Adelaide Crows.<\/p>\n

Despite coming into the match without dual All-Australian ruckman Brodie Grundy<\/a>, the Magpies came out of the gates on fire before running out 12. 6. (78) to 10. 13. (73) winners<\/a> in front of a packed Adelaide Oval crowd.<\/p>\n

Elliott kicked five of his six goals in a scintillating first-half performance, including four in the opening quarter as Collingwood recorded its highest scoring first term of the year.<\/p>\n

"It's a fantastic win for Collingwood, a really brave performance," St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt said on Fox Footy's coverage.<\/p>\n

"They set it up with a first-quarter blitz. They were irresistible to start that game."<\/p>\n

It was a welcome sight for Collingwood fans to have Elliott back in the line-up for the first time since he injured his leg in the Magpies' Round 2 win over Carlton.<\/p>\n

Despite a tumultuous week off the field for the club and an ugly boardroom war over the presidency, Elliott said the players were simply focused on what was in their power.<\/p>\n

"It was just pleasing to get through. It's just good to be back, I missed playing," he told Fox Footy.<\/p>\n

\"Trent<\/p>\n

"Bloody great to get that win, it was hard-fought and we'll enjoy this one. <\/p>\n

"We've been spoken about a lot in the past eight weeks, but all we can control is all we do on (the) ground and how we prepare for games. <\/p>\n

"That's all we can do, we can't put our attention to all that outside noise and we've just got to worry about what we can control and that's playing good footy and I thought that was a good step in the right direction."<\/p>\n

Collingwood now faces a ladder-leading Melbourne side in a Queen's Birthday blockbuster, before a bye in Round 14.<\/p>\n
