Russian doubles player Yana Sizikova has reportedly been detained by Paris police over suspected match fixing at last year's Roland-Garros<\/a>, according to an AFP report.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old's 2021 Roland-Garros campaign came to an end when she and partner Ekaterina Alexandrova were defeated 1-6 1-6 by Australian duo Storm Sanders and Ajla Tomljanovic<\/a> in the first round, and she was detained after the match.<\/p>\n

According to the report, investigators' eyebrows were raised after the first-round match in 2020 which saw Sizikova and American partner Madison Brengle beaten by Romanian duo Andreea Mitu and Patricia Maria Tig. <\/p>\n

Match fixing suspicions surrounding the match were raised due to "abnormally high betting activity" on the match, with one game in the second set particularly dubious due to two unusual double-faults from Sizikova.<\/p>\n

Sizikova is currently ranked 101st in the WTA doubles rankings, and has one career WTA doubles title in her career, a win at the 2019 Swiss Open partnering Russia's Anastasia Potapova.<\/p>\n

The Russian partnered with compatriot Alexandrova at this year's Australian Open and was also bundled out in the first round by Czech pair Lucie Hradecka and Kristyna Pliskova.<\/p>\n
