Eddie McGuire<\/a> has been left fuming amid constant reports linking him to Jeff Browne's coup to overthrow Mark Korda to become Collingwood's next president.<\/p>\n

Collingwood has been plunged into turmoil since McGuire's resignation in February<\/a>, with the tension only escalating after Korda's appointment in late April<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McGuire's personal and business relationship with Browne has resulted in many believing that he is behind the coup, using it as a way to remain in control of the club.<\/p>\n

Amid recent reports suggesting that he'd been offered an unofficial role at the club under Browne's potential presidency, the furious ex-president responded.<\/p>\n

"I'm sick of being called a liar. I'm sick of it," he told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I gave 23 years of my life to the Collingwood Football Club and everything I've ever done is for the betterment of the Collingwood Football Club.<\/p>\n

"If I thought I was going to add more to the football club I'd still be the president.<\/p>\n

"If you read a story \u2026. and it has anything to do with me being involved in any faction or any push at the Collingwood Football Club, then you know that reporter is a liar.<\/p>\n

"I'm not involved in the football club in any way. I speak to people everywhere. Have I spoken to Jeff Browne? Yes I have. Have I spoken to Mark Korda? Yes I have.<\/p>\n

"Have I helped with sponsorships in the last month at the Collingwood Football Club and the AFL? Yes I do. Why? Because I love football."<\/p>\n

When pressed over who he wanted as the club's president between Korda and Browne, McGuire chose not to answer.<\/p>\n

"I'm not buying into it," he said.<\/p>\n

"I still know that I hold too much weight as far as the members are concerned, I'm not blind to the situation.<\/p>\n

"What breaks my heart is for 23 years none of this happened at Collingwood and now unfortunately it is.<\/p>\n

"We need to get to a resolution and the way I think it should be done is I'd love to see Mark Korda and Jeff Browne sit down one more time and try and work it out and work out what's best for the Collingwood Football Club."<\/p>\n

Central to a potential EGM is the petition which has been led by long-time Collingwood member David Hatley, who says he has "approximately 1700 signatures", well over the mark of 650 needed to trigger an EGM.<\/p>\n

Hatley said the current board's unified statement<\/a> did little to help disgruntled and disillusioned fans, and said the appointment of director Bridie O'Donnell was the trigger for the push to cause a board spill.<\/p>\n

"The overwhelming feedback that I've received from our members and my friends is the disconnect with the club," he told Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"It's been building for some time and it isn't just the on-field performance at the moment.<\/p>\n

"The final catalyst for us going ahead with this EGM petition was the last board appointment of Bridie O'Donnell.<\/p>\n

"We're not disputing any of her claims of being a talented or valid board member, but things like her on her social media mocking Collingwood members such as myself really struck a chord with a lot of us."<\/p>\n
