{"id":79540,"date":"2021-06-02T14:12:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-02T14:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=79540"},"modified":"2021-06-02T14:58:27","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T14:58:27","slug":"how-to-get-involved-in-run-for-the-oceans-and-tackle-plastic-pollution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=79540","title":{"rendered":"How to get involved in Run for the Oceans and tackle plastic pollution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                Every day marine plastic pollution threatens the sustainability of our planet and if we continue to dump plastic into the ocean at the rate we are, by 2050 there will be more plastic in our waters than fish.<br \/>\nAdidas and Parley are on a mission to reduce the amount of plastic in our seas, by pledging to remove bottles and debris from the oceans by getting people to take part in a global movement.<br \/>\nVideo Playback Not Supported<br \/>\nThe UAE Adidas Runners community is doing its bit to tackle plastic pollution by taking part of the initiative, with the backing of Adidas Runners GCC captain Lee Ryan, who is taking the lead in encouraging people to get active for the cause.<br \/>\nWe have a motto with Adidas Runners: \u2018We start together, we finish together,\u2019 said Ryan. \u201cAs captain, it\u2019s for me to inspire and motivate the community to show them that they\u2019re worth it, that the journey matters, to share the success and lead by example with every step I take on every step I do.\u201d<br \/>\nGood cause: The initiative aims to drastically reduce plastic pollution<br \/>\nGlobally, major sports stars and celebrities have backed the movement such as David Beckham and in 2019 2.2 million runners around the world participated in Run For The Oceans. The initiative aims to clean up 500,000 lbs. of plastic debris from the ocean.<br \/>\nAnyone of any age or ability is able to join the 2021 Run for the Oceans. It\u2019s a matter of running those kilometres to reduce ocean plastic from the 28th May to the 8th June; every kilometre tracked will donate to the challenge.<br \/>\nRecycled materials: Adidas Ultraboost 21 Primeblue are made using Parley ocean plastic<br \/>\nTo get involved, download the Adidas Running app, go to the communities tab, and join the challenge.
