Nine rugby league reporter Danny Weidler wrote in the Sydney Morning Herald that some players were angry about the NRL's recent officiating crackdown.<\/a><\/p>\n Speaking at a press conference this afternoon Abdo spoke out against the report and insisted that V'landys is the man<\/a> to lead rugby league in Australia.<\/p>\n "I was a bit disappointed to see some of the coverage. I think it's been blown out of proportion," Abdo said.<\/p>\n "I've got a good relationship with Clint Newton. Peter and I are very accessible and have an open-door policy.<\/p>\n "There might be a few players that are feeling like they haven't had a voice and we will absolutely sit down [with them].<\/p>\n "Peter V'landys has been an unbelievable chairman.<\/p>\n "I was somewhat surprised by this. I think that this might be, hopefully, a storm in a teacup.<\/p>\n "What we've seen is really strong leadership from the Commission and Peter. The players are very valued by the game and they have every right to voice their concerns and they'll do that constructively."<\/p>\n Abdo re-iterated that the NRL is fully behind the controversial crackdown on officiating which has seen an increased amount of players being put on report and players being sent to the sin-bin.<\/p>\n "Not everyone likes change. But here's the thing, it's always been illegal to have direct contact with the head," Abdo said.<\/p>\n "We saw too many dangerous head knocks.
