AFL great Kane Cornes has unleashed on the "tools and flogs" who criticised his comparison of Melbourne midfielders Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver to West Coast idols Chris Judd and Daniel Kerr.<\/p>\n

Cornes said that he'd copped a barrage of abuse from footy fans over the call<\/a>, even getting direct text messages.<\/p>\n

Yet with the Demons pair leading a brilliant start to the season for Melbourne, Cornes dug into the stats and came up trumps.<\/p>\n

Petracca and Oliver have Judd and Kerr covered in a number of key areas, when comparing this season to the 2006 West Coast premiership campaign.<\/p>\n

"I can make some big calls … on Footy Classified, I said that Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver could be similar to a Judd and a Kerr combination; that's how good they're going," Cornes said on The Sunday Footy Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"Now, the tools and the flogs, they tweet me, they text me and they say, 'Kane's off his head, he's kidding himself'.<\/p>\n

"Well, I'm Vol-Kane-Oing them, because I did some digging. I did some digging about just how good these two are going and comparing them to those two, Judd and Kerr, during their premiership year; in their absolute sweet-spot at the Eagles.<\/p>\n

"These two midfielders, Petracca and Oliver, are going better than Judd and Kerr in their premiership-winning eras of '05 and '06.<\/p>\n

"So, to all the tools, to the flogs that tweeted me and texted me and tried to get into me on social media, I'm Vol-Kane-Oing you this morning. Those two are flying."<\/p>\n

Melbourne knocked off Western Bulldogs by 28 points on Friday night, with Petracca and Oliver combining for 57 touches.<\/p>\n

"These two are the best midfield duo that we've seen in a long time," Cornes said.<\/p>\n
