Andrew Johns<\/a> says Corey Norman<\/a> is the ideal replacement for the injured Cameron Munster<\/a> at the five-eighth position for Queensland ahead of the Origin opener. <\/p>\n

Munster was inspirational in Queensland's shock 2-1 win last season, taking out the Wally Lewis Medal, but is likely to miss the series opener on June 9 due to a foot sprain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While moving Kalyn Ponga from fullback into five-eighth<\/a> has been tossed up as an option, Johns said he'd prefer to see Norman return to the Maroons side after making his Origin debut in the 2019 series.<\/p>\n

"I've had a quick look and I think number one, Corey Norman, is probably the most favoured option for Queensland," Johns told Wide World of Sports' Immortal Behaviour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"He played there a couple of years ago and really did the job. It's a real target, Kalyn being in the front line. We saw Newcastle experiment with Kalyn at five-eighth and it didn't really work. <\/p>\n

"If I had to pick between (Ponga and Brimson), I'd probably defend Brimson in the front line other than Kalyn and let Kalyn swing and play everywhere. <\/p>\n

"I just think Corey Norman has done the job in the past, he's a natural left-field player and Cherry-Evans likes to play on the right side. <\/p>\n

"Daly Cherry-Evans is a right-foot kicker and Norman a left-foot kicker and it's his natural position."<\/p>\n
