Matthew Lloyd<\/a> has hit back at Carlton great Mark Maclure after his suggestion that Lloyd's brother, Brad, had fed him inside information on the Blues' coaching staff.<\/p>\n

Maclure took aim at Lloyd on Fox Footy's AFL 360<\/em>, claiming that Lloyd had stated that Carlton coach David Teague<\/a>'s assistants would be ousted at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The three-time Blues premiership player inferred that Lloyd had gotten the information from his brother Brad, who is currently Carlton's Head of Football.<\/p>\n

Lloyd says he was incensed by the suggestion from Maclure, and had contacted the Carlton great on the phone immediately after hearing his claims.<\/p>\n

"I just happened to be watching the show and I must admit I was really upset because it's factually incorrect," he told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I've never ever spoken about the Carlton coaching panel so I nearly fell off my chair. I've never been so upset.<\/p>\n

"My brother is the Head of Football at Carlton and I've never had that conversation on Footy Classified. My brother then has to go and deal with a lot of staff at the Carlton Football Club and it's their livelihoods. He never speaks to me ever about private matters that are going on within the Carlton Football Club.<\/p>\n

"I got straight on the phone to Mark and Mark had been given the information and he said it, and he was quick to apologise to me and he's apologised to my brother.<\/p>\n

"But I'm disappointed for my brother because you say those things and suddenly my brother is dealing with a lot of people at the football club. He's got to be better than that."<\/p>\n

Maclure's comments led to AFL great Paul Roos suggesting that there needed to be greater accountability in the media.<\/p>\n

"It's destabilising to a football club," Roos told Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I just think there's got to be more accountability in the media because that's a big statement.<\/p>\n

"There's a group of footballers who watch that show and there's coaches that watch that show, and it's probably not until the next day that they've got a chance to front (Brad Lloyd), talk to the CEO, talk to the players, and it so it's a pretty big statement."<\/p>\n
