{"id":71918,"date":"2021-05-16T22:30:43","date_gmt":"2021-05-16T22:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=71918"},"modified":"2021-05-16T23:00:32","modified_gmt":"2021-05-16T23:00:32","slug":"eels-explosion-outdoes-parramatta-legends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=71918","title":{"rendered":"Eels explosion outdoes Parramatta legends"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>PARRA POWER TO HISTORIC SCORING SPREE<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Against the Warriors on Sunday, Brad Arthur&#x27;s Eels achieved a feat that not even the great Parramatta sides of the 1980s managed.<\/p>\n<p>The Eels&#x27; 24-point early blitz was the most points by a Parramatta team in the first 20 minutes since at least 1980.<\/p>\n<p>And let&#x27;s not forget the Eels won four titles in the &#x27;80s and their team included legendary names like Kenny, Sterling, Cronin, Grothe, Price and Ella.<\/p>\n<p>The only black mark on a great afternoon for the Eels was that they didn&#x27;t really go on with the job.<\/p>\n<p>The gutsy Warriors fought back well from 24-0, winning the second half as the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/nrl\/parramatta-young-gun-jakob-arthur-scores-on-debut-as-eels-down-warriors\/238ff894-b30b-4493-a7c2-ede9c0507455\" title=\"score finished 34-18\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">score finished 34-18<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"16bec378-63f5-413d-af9f-6655030d3686\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/16bec378-63f5-413d-af9f-6655030d3686\" alt=\"\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>BROOKS RUNS HIMSELF INTO NEW PAY DAY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Luke Brooks has been literally playing for his future in 2021 &#8211; and he may well have ensured he will stay on the big dollars in 2022 with his performance against a woeful Knights team on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Brooks was the standout in the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/nrl\/wests-tigers-down-newcastle-knights-magic-round-opener\/b356c680-adff-4316-85ec-2c0a22a7a6b1\" title=\"Tigers&#x27; 36-18 thrashing of the Knights\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tigers&#x27; 36-18 thrashing of the Knights<\/a> for one simple reason: he rediscovered his running game.<\/p>\n<p>Blessed with plenty of pace and a lovely balanced mover, Brooks has been often criticised for not taking on the line.<\/p>\n<p>In a crucial game in the Tigers&#x27; season, Brooks ran like a man possessed.<\/p>\n<p>He scored the opening try of Magic Round, running for a total of 168 metres in the game &#8211; the second-best haul in his career.<\/p>\n<p>With the Tigers bringing Jackson Hastings on board for 2022, the pressure is on Brooks.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"e23e3b60-b3ee-4b7f-a478-b1ca7a035e30\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/e23e3b60-b3ee-4b7f-a478-b1ca7a035e30\" alt=\"\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"1085\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>SENSATIONAL SAAB SILENCES TROLLS<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For the first month of the 2021 season, Sea Eagles fans were slamming lanky winger Jason Saab at Brookvale and on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Signed from the Dragons on good money, Saab was touted as the next big thing but was out of sorts in a Sea Eagles side that lost its opening four games.<\/p>\n<p>But Saab&#x27;s form since then has been sensational, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/nrl\/live-scores-2021-tigers-knights-manly-broncos-start-time-results-news-round-10\/315c3cb7-91c6-470b-a36c-5af8f8b4850b\" title=\"scoring in six games straight\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scoring in six games straight<\/a> and combining superbly with fullback Tom Trbojevic on the right edge.<\/p>\n<p>The tallest winger in the game, Saab has bagged 10 tries over the last magical six weeks and is now among the form wingers in the comp.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"ff3bb4f6-290f-4353-a3ad-ee8ccb586ddc\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/ff3bb4f6-290f-4353-a3ad-ee8ccb586ddc\" alt=\"\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"1085\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>NO FRILLS KIWI STANDS UP FOR CANBERRA<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad suffered a serious neck injury a few weeks back, the struggling Raiders knew he would be hard to replace.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#x27;s been a tough few weeks for the Raiders, on and off the field, before last weekend&#x27;s courageous win over the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, one of the heroes of the gutsy win was Nicoll-Klokstad&#x27;s &#x27;no frills&#x27; replacement Caleb Aekins.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old Kiwi, in his first year at the club after signing from Penrith, was thrown in at the deep end but has handled himself well.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs win was his breakthrough game.
