This summer's Ashes finale will reportedly be played in Perth for the first time since the 1994-95 summer, with the crowded international schedule forcing the series to mid-January.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> reports that Australia's first ever Test against Afghanistan will open the international summer in Hobart in late November.<\/p>\n

Players from both sides will have to serve two weeks quarantine following the T20 World Cup, which is due to conclude in mid-November. At this stage that tournament is scheduled for India, but following the cancellation of the IPL<\/a> earlier this month, the Middle East is the more likely venue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Ashes series will start in Brisbane, where every series against England since 1986-87 has begun, and a venue where Australia hadn't lost for 32 years before being beaten by India last summer.<\/a><\/p>\n

With the Gabba match set to begin on December 9, the Adelaide day-night Test will follow on December 17, before the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

Sydney will host the now-traditional New Year's Test, although it's expected to start on January 5, to give the players an extra day's rest, before the series wraps up in Perth in mid-January.<\/p>\n

The packed pre-Christmas schedule means Perth has been shuffled from its usual slot in mid-December, with the COVID-19 quarantine requirements leaving officials with no choice but to move the match.<\/p>\n

Both Sri Lanka and New Zealand are expected to tour in February for a series of white ball matches, while the Australian women's team will defend the Ashes late in the summer before heading to New Zealand for the one-day World Cup in March.<\/p>\n
