Manly<\/a> maestro Daly Cherry-Evans is bravely battling a nagging groin injury that may require surgery at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

DCE suffered the injury in an early-season game but is continuing to soldier on, despite being in pain and discomfort at both training and on game day.<\/p>\n

The injury is the reason that Cherry-Evans has handed the Manly goal-kicking duties over to winger Reuben Garrick, as he tries to put as little strain on the groin as possible.<\/p>\n

With Tom Turbo back firing on all cylinders and DCE calling the shots at halfback, Manly are suddenly looking finals bound after a disastrous start to the season.<\/p>\n

BANNED AGENT'S CAMP TRY PROP SWAP<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The camp of disgraced player manager Isaac Moses is attempting to arrange a player swap between two of its big name clients: the Broncos' Matt Lodge and Newcastle's David Klemmer.<\/p>\n

While Moses has been deregistered, one of his relatives is officially handling the contract dealings of his players.<\/p>\n

But Moses remains in the background, allegedly pulling the strings.<\/p>\n

Both Lodge and Klemmer could benefit from a sea change in 2022.<\/p>\n

Klemmer hasn't quite lived up to the hype since joining the Knights from Canterbury and his experience and leadership would help the young Broncos pack.<\/p>\n

Lodge is on big dollars at the Broncos but playing in a losing pack more often than not has made him a frustrated footballer.<\/p>\n

SHARKS FARCE MAY COST CLUB REYNOLDS<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Cronulla were in the box seat to sign Adam Reynolds<\/a> a month ago – but the club's woeful fall from grace since sacking coach John Morris has all but cost them the star halfback.<\/p>\n

Reynolds wants to stay in Sydney and the Sharks, who have already lost Chad Townsend (Cowboys) and may also lose Shaun Johnson, seemed the perfect fit.<\/p>\n

But in the four games since management inexplicably sent Morris packing, they have conceded 126 points, losing all four.<\/p>\n

The club is now out of finals contention, morale is shot to pieces and the administration of the Sharks in shambles.<\/p>\n

A source close to Reynolds tells me all this has put him off the club, with the Broncos now hot favourites to gain his services.<\/p>\n

LEAKS MAKE FOR UNHAPPY CANBERRA CAMP<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In most struggling clubs, it's officials who desperately try to shut down leaks from disgruntled players whingeing to the media.<\/p>\n

But they are doing things the exact opposite way down in Canberra at the moment<\/a> – the players are filthy that an official is bad-mouthing them to the press.<\/p>\n

Last week, Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson was fuming that the reasons behind his dropping were aired on TV 24 hours before he was told he was axed.<\/p>\n

Then yesterday, this from former Raider John Bateman to The Sydney Morning Herald's Michael Chammas<\/a>: "I don't understand how you're told to keep things internally but the next minute you've got [journalists] chatting about it within 24 hours of what's been said at the club.<\/p>\n

"You ask yourself, 'Who is leaking that stuff out? Who is mates with who?' You question it, don't you?<\/p>\n

"Player-wise, you all trust each other. I never thought it was the players. I trusted the players. I trusted them like my own mates."<\/p>\n

After five straight losses, the Raiders aren't a happy camp and players and officials are looking at each other with suspicion – and that can only lead to disaster.<\/p>\n
