The West Coast Eagles<\/a> finally got their first win away from Perth, but it came at a cost with star forward Josh Kennedy<\/a> suffering a calf injury in the process.<\/p>\n

After being held goalless in the opening quarter against Hawthorn, the Eagles burst to life in the final three quarters, running out 14. 14. (98) to 8. 12. (60) winners<\/a> at the MCG.<\/p>\n

However, the main concern post-game for the Eagles is the health of Kennedy, who was substituted off in the final quarter and ended the game with his right calf in ice.<\/p>\n

According to Eagles coach Adam Simpson, the Eagles aren't expecting the veteran forward to miss a lengthy period of time, with the substitution mainly precautionary.<\/p>\n

"I think he had it from around quarter-time onwards," Simpson said.<\/p>\n

"I don't think it's significant, but we probably thought there was a risk that if he kept playing he might make it worse, so we had to make the sub."<\/p>\n

The injury to Kennedy lengthens what is an already lengthy injury list which features names such as star duo Luke Shuey and Elliot Yeo.<\/p>\n

In the absence of the midfield duo, Andrew Gaff and Dom Sheed were dominant for the Eagles, finishing with 38 and 35 disposals, respectively, while Brendon Ah Chee kicked a career-best four goals.<\/p>\n
