Bulldogs centre Corey Allan was hammered so hard in a brutal gang tackle in today's 32-12 loss to the Dragons<\/a> that he was placed in a neck brace, stretchered off and rushed to hospital.<\/p>\n

Four Dragons players combined to drive Allan into touch on the left wing when the former Rabbitoh received the footy close to St George Illawarra's line in the 60th minute, hauling him about six metres and ploughing him into the turf.<\/p>\n

The back of Allan's head thudded into the ground and play stopped for more than 10 minutes as he was attended to by medicos in disturbing scenes.<\/p>\n

Canterbury playmaker Lachlan Lewis is also in hospital after suffering an injury involving his ribs and lungs, which forced him from the field in the 65th minute.<\/p>\n

"(Corey) was hit hard," said legendary Parramatta halfback Peter Sterling on Nine's coverage.<\/p>\n

"There was a lot of momentum, a lot of bodies working against him."<\/p>\n

Nine commentator Mat Thompson added: "This is all part of procedure and it's all precautionary when there's indication that there might be some kind of issue around the neck.<\/p>\n

"While it looks very dramatic, we hope everything is okay for Corey Allan."<\/p>\n

Bulldogs coach Trent Barrett had little details for reporters regarding Allan's situation in his post-match press conference.<\/p>\n

"I haven't spoken to the doctor yet but he's been taken to hospital," Barrett said.<\/p>\n

"He's at the right spot."<\/p>\n

The injuries of Allan and Lewis added to what had already been a monstrous Bulldogs injury toll.<\/p>\n

Captain Josh Jackson (calf), Dylan Napa (shoulder), Raymond Faitala-Mariner (foot), Jayden Okunbor (knee), Jeremy Marshall-King (foot) and Christian Crichton (knee) are all awaiting several more weeks on the sideline, while Jack Hetherington won't be back until round 12 due to his suspension.<\/p>\n

"We're in a bit of a hole," Barrett said.<\/p>\n

"It's 50 per cent of your starting side, really, that we're missing, and we can't really afford to.<\/p>\n

"But we've still got to be better than what we were tonight."<\/p>\n
