While Broncos coach Kevin Walters insisted on Friday that Coates was going nowhere, it's clear the Papua New Guinea-born young gun is in hot commodity after Meninga admitted the Titans are looking to bolster their backline stocks when pressed on the situation. <\/p>\n
"We believe he is going to be an asset to any club," Meninga told Fox League.<\/p>\n
"He is a local junior from the Gold Coast. He has found his way through the junior ranks to the Broncos.<\/p>\n

"We are in the hunt for Xavier and we are still waiting. He hasn't made a decision yet. <\/p>\n
"From our point of view we are in among three or four other clubs at the moment, but we hope he comes to our club.<\/p>\n
"He is a terrific young talent and he has a big future and he is a bright young man as well."<\/p>\n
According to a Courier Mail report, The Titans recently put a two-year contract worth more than $1 million to Coates, while it's understood the Broncos have offered a similar contract worth close to $500,000 per season to keep him at Red Hill. <\/p>\n
Despite Coates on Wednesday admitting Melbourne would be an attractive option when asked about his future, he conceded he still hasn't made up his mind. <\/p>\n

"It feels good to be wanted by clubs," Coates said.<\/p>\n
"Obviously it does appeal to me playing for Melbourne, but with every NRL club there is a great coach behind a team. There's no bad coaches in the NRL, obviously Melbourne appeals to me but there are 15 other clubs and they have appeal as well.<\/p>\n
"I am young and still finding my feet, I just want to play consistent footy for the Broncos. I am here for this year, I have the mentors here to help me learn, so each day I come to training with an open mindset."<\/p>\n
