Sydney assistant coaches Don Pyke, Jarrad McVeigh and Dean Cox have been cleared to join the team in Melbourne for Saturday clash with the Demons after fears they would be forced to coach remotely amid NSW's COVID-19 outbreak.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Swans<\/a> and the AFL received a major boost on Thursday after the club confirmed that all players and staff had tested negative to COVID-19. But Sydney at the time was forced to implement a plan for the club's trio of assistants to coach outside of Victoria.<\/p>\n

It was revealed McVeigh, Cox and Pyke attended the Azure Cafe in Moore Park between 12:30-1:00 pm, which was later listed as a hotspot following confirmation that a person had tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

It's understood the trio, who all previously tested negative, will board a Sydney-Melbourne flight this evening before isolating and undergoing a further COVID-19 test once they land in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

"We just need to make sure the involvement the remote coaches have, their interaction with the coaches at the MCG works – and be pretty clear early days if it doesn't then move to another solution," Swans' chief executive Tom Harley said earlier on Friday.<\/p>\n

"There's no playbook for this.<\/p>\n

"There's a fair bit to work through; this is as far as I know hasn't been attempted before."<\/p>\n

The outbreak in NSW has forced Sydney's VFL side to remain in Sydney, with their match on May 9 to be rescheduled for a later date.<\/p>\n
