Australian cricket great Michael Slater<\/a> has doubled down on his criticism of Prime Minister Scott Morrison, imploring the PM to "take (his) private jet" to India to witness the carnage caused by the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n

India recorded another 382,146 new cases of the virus on May 4, bringing the seven-day average to 381,124 in what has turned into a devastating third wave of the virus in recent months.<\/p>\n

Just days after claiming that Mr Morrison had "blood on his hands"<\/a> for the controversial travel ban placed on Australians returning from India, Slater took another dig at the PM.<\/p>\n

"Amazing to smoke out the PM on a matter that is a human crisis," Slater tweeted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Michael<\/p>\n

"The panic, the fear of every Australian in India is real!! How about you take your private jet and come and witness dead bodies on the street!"<\/p>\n

Slater's tweet followed the Prime Minister labelling the ex-Test star's comments "obviously absurd".<\/p>\n

Slater was in India for commentary duties for the Indian Premier League before he was prevented from returning home to Australia when the country was struck by a devastating wave of the virus.<\/p>\n

The Indian Premier League has been suspended indefinitely<\/a> after a number of COVID-19 clusters developed among teams<\/p>\n

According to The Australian, Slater tried to escape home for a week before eventually jetting to the Maldives where he will wait before he is legally allowed to depart.<\/p>\n
