The GWS Giants and Toby Greene<\/a> have agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep the superstar at the club until the end of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

Having signed a six-year deal in 2018, the extension means Greene is now contracted to the club until the age of 33.<\/p>\n

The 2016 All-Australian has been at the club since being picked up in the 2011 national draft.<\/p>\n

"I've always known my future was at the Giants, it's been my home since I was 18," he said.<\/p>\n

"We've got a young and exciting group and I'm privileged to lead them out (as stand-in captain) until Cogs (Stephen Coniglio) returns.<\/p>\n

"It's been a really enjoyable start to the season and I'm looking forward to being back in Sydney in front of our orange army this weekend."<\/p>\n

GWS general manager of football, Jason McCartney says the decision to extend Greene's deal was straightforward.<\/p>\n

"Toby's obviously a star of the competition and is having a brilliant start to the season," he said.<\/p>\n

"He's flourished with the added responsibility this season which is really pleasing. \u00a0<\/p>\n

"It was a pretty easy option for us to add another couple of years to his contract, we've always known he'll be a Giant for life."<\/p>\n

Greene has impressed in his stint as stand-in captain<\/a> in the absence of the injured Coniglio<\/a>, with Essendon great Matthew Lloyd recently urging the club to give him the job on a full-time basis.<\/a><\/p>\n

"Some players thrive with the captaincy and some it's like a noose around their neck," he told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I feel like Stephen Coniglio, it has never sat comfortably with Stephen, whereas Toby, he just rolls with it and I think he inspires the other players.<\/p>\n

"They've got a massive decision to make, and for me, I would make it to be Toby Greene as the Giants' captain."<\/p>\n
