The 32-year-old's departure before his current contract expires at the end of the 2023 season would free up north of a million dollars-a-season in the Sea Eagles' salary cap, with that carrot fuelling the speculation.<\/p>\n

However, Cherry-Evans said he'd been assured he wasn't being shopped around.<\/p>\n
"Any uncertainty is quickly going away, that's for sure," the Sea Eagles captain told reporters.<\/p>\n
"It's nice to have those conversations with those people – weird couple of weeks though, didn't see that coming."<\/p>\n
The 2011 premiership winner praised his "great relationship" with his coach and said their conversation had mainly been one of reassurances.<\/p>\n
"We work well together, I'm still learning off him and he's still teaching me a fair bit," Cherry-Evans said.<\/p>\n
"We're hopeful we can still continue to work together, that's for sure."<\/p>\n

After a dreadful start to the year, Manly have now won three of their last four games, with Cherry-Evans pleased at the progression of the team after that first month.<\/p>\n
His eight-year, $10 million contract ends at the end of 2023 – and he said he's not concerned about contract extension talks.<\/p>\n
"I've still got so long to go on my contract, so I'm personally not too worried about re-signing. If that came up, no doubt about it, I'd love to do it," he said.<\/p>\n
While the Origin rep wasn't panicking about re-signing, he did acknowledge that any player, regardless of how secure their situation might seem, should be constantly monitoring their own contract situation.<\/p>\n
"Generally speaking, it's very very easy for contracts to be void from the player's perspective and the club's perspective. Even though I had two and a half years to run, that's why I still felt a little unsure," he said.<\/p>\n
"Things can change so quickly in this game."<\/p>\n
