BRONCOS BLUNDER LAID BARE BY WALSH<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Brisbane's woeful recruitment and retention was highlighted again over the weekend in the Warriors' gritty 24-20 win<\/a> over the Cowboys.<\/p>\n

The standout player for the Warriors was Broncos discard Reece Walsh, who created one try, had another disallowed and looked dangerous throughout.<\/p>\n

With the Broncos crying out for a playmaker, they never even gave Walsh, who looks a fine prospect, a chance.<\/p>\n

The youngster moved to the Warriors recently, was tossed straight into first grade at 18, has played two fine games and has a huge future.<\/p>\n

GRANT HAS GRIT BEHIND THE GUILE<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We have all marvelled at Harry Grant's skill and speed over the past 12 months, but he showed a new side to his game against Cronulla – toughness.<\/p>\n

In his starting debut for the Storm, Grant was clearly targeted by the Sharks' big middle forwards, who used him as a speed bump.<\/p>\n

The mighty mite was sat on his arse half a dozen times by the Cronulla giants but bounced back up every time despite some heavy knocks.<\/p>\n

He also dislocated a finger TWICE during the game but kept on going, only coming off when the match was well won in the final stages.<\/p>\n

GAMBLE PAYS OFF IN HISTORIC FIGHTBACK WIN<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Tyson Gamble's NRL career looked over before it ever really began, with just three games to his name at the age of 24.<\/p>\n

But the unheralded halfback proved the man who sparked the Broncos' remarkable comeback from the dead against the Titans last Friday night.<\/p>\n

And he may just be the player to get the pride back into the Broncos, judging by his take-no-prisoners approach.<\/p>\n

With Tom Dearden, Anthony Milford and Brodie Croft all failing dismally in the playmaking role, Gamble was handed the keys to the Broncos' attack by a desperate coach Kevin Walters.<\/p>\n

With his team down 22-0 early, heads were dropping and the Broncos were bracing for yet another thrashing.<\/p>\n

But the cheeky Gamble would have none of it. He aggressively took on the Titans, daring his team-mates to follow his lead \u2026 and they did, as the Broncos pulled off the biggest fightback in the club's history.<\/p>\n

TUPOU COULD BE TRICOLOURS' TOP TRY-SCORER<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Daniel Tupou is on target to become the highest try-scoring Rooster of all time if he maintains his current strike rate for another few seasons.<\/p>\n

Tupou had a fine game against the Knights on Saturday night, scoring one try and laying on another for Josh Morris.<\/p>\n

That try took him to 105 career tries for the club, in third spot, one ahead of 1970s legend Bill Mullins.<\/p>\n

He still has a way to go to catch Anthony Minichiello's 139 'meat pies' – but with Sam Walker set to throw him plenty more of those lovely long balls in the future, he's a chance.<\/p>\n

GI SHOWS HE STILL HAS IT IN COMEBACK<\/strong><\/h2>\n

For those who missed it, Greg Inglis was a success in his comeback to football in his first game for over two years for English club Warrington.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old former Souths and Melbourne star alternated between fullback and centre and scored a try on debut<\/a> as Warrington scored a 50-26 victory over Hull KR.<\/p>\n

"We were very happy with him and he will get better as he gets more footy under his belt," Wolves boss Karl Fitzpatrick told me from the UK.<\/p>\n
