David Warner has been left out of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad less than 24 hours after he was sensationally sacked<\/a> as captain of his IPL<\/a> franchise.<\/p>\n

Warner, 34, will not feature for the Sunrisers tonight during their clash with the Rajasthan Royals. The Australian was replaced by Afghan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi as the fourth overseas player in the starting XI.<\/p>\n

The decision comes following the Sunrisers' terrible start to the IPL season, with the team currently at the bottom of the table.<\/p>\n

The three-time Allan Border Medallist notched his 50th IPL half century in the team's most recent outing against the Chennai Super Kings, but was criticised for his unusually low strike rate after managing to score just 57 runs in 55 deliveries.<\/p>\n

Through six matches this season Warner has averaged just 32.16 with the bat, which is well down from his career IPL average of 42.22.<\/p>\n

Sunrisers Director of Cricket Tom Moody confirmed the news earlier today and revealed Warner was left "shocked and disappointed" with the decision.<\/p>\n

"We had to make the hard call \u2014 somebody has to miss out and unfortunately it's him," Moody said.<\/p>\n

"He's shocked and disappointed. Anyone would be disappointed. He has come to terms with the logic behind what we want to achieve from a franchise's perspective.<\/p>\n

"He has rallied around the team and more importantly the team has rallied around him. I don't think what's happened in the past isn't as relevant, and we have made some significant changes in the ground in the last 24-48 hours."<\/p>\n

Warner's axing comes after it was revealed on Saturday that New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson<\/a> would take over the captaincy duties of the team.<\/p>\n
