He has been in charge at Collingwood since 2012 and opinions are divided on whether he can lead the club to another era of success. Collingwood lost to the Gold Coast Suns<\/a> in Round Seven on Saturday at the SCG.<\/p>\n The Sunday Footy Show<\/em> host Tony Jones, a Collingwood fan, said that he would be happy for Buckley to see out the season and perhaps coach on. He said that there was no obvious replacement for Buckley.<\/p>\n Yet Lloyd felt that Collingwood needed to be more proactive than that, seeking to unearth the next elite AFL coach.<\/p>\n "I don't think you can say that, TJ, when you say, 'Who else are they going to get?'" Lloyd said.<\/p>\n "Where did [Damien] Hardwick start? Where was he when he first started his career?<\/p>\n "You've got to give someone a chance. Where did [Luke] Beveridge start? Where did Clarko (Alastair Clarkson) start?"<\/p>\n Jones countered: "Who took over from Kevin Sheedy? (Matthew Knights) How did that go?"<\/p>\n Lloyd continued: "That's right but what I'm saying is, what do you do? Just say, 'Ah, I don't think there's anyone better out there'."<\/p>\n Lloyd suggested that Buckley was not improving his players this year and was getting far lighter treatment over his job security than Carlton coach David Teague.<\/p>\n "What you've got to look at is, who's improving at Collingwood? Name me one player that's improved this year," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n "You've got to always ask, are players developing? How's our game style going? Our ball use? All those sort of things.<\/p>\n "I think Nathan was a wonderful player, he's a big name. He's getting cut a lot more grace, in my opinion, than like a David Teague.<\/p>\n "David Teague doesn't have the respect that Nathan Buckley has, so we all say, 'Oh, I'd give Nathan another chance'.<\/p>\n "But they have to ask serious and hard questions. They are one win and six losses after seven rounds. <\/p>\n "Yes, their list just doesn't look that great. There's been some shocking errors, with the Dayne Beams decision and the salary cap issues. <\/p>\n "So he's had to deal with some of that but I think they have to ask the hard questions. I obviously would give him until the end of the year as well but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they moved on."<\/p>\n Fellow AFL great Nathan Brown said that Buckley had been let down by his club; left to fight for his career with an inferior list.<\/p>\n "A kick off a grand final [win in 2018] and we keep bringing that up, but it could be different," Brown said on The Sunday Footy Show.<\/p>\n "And then you get told that, 'We're over the salary cap'. I think Collingwood have let Nathan Buckley down, because he can't put a side out that he wants to at the moment.<\/p>\n "Yes, he may have had some say in who goes out the door, but it wasn't his fault that players had to go out the door. If he had his time over again, he'd love to keep those players.<\/p>\n "We know [Adam] Treloar, [Tom] Phillips, [Jaidyn] Stephenson; but then you get told you're not going to be able to get anybody in. They were after Jeremy Cameron, couldn't afford Jeremy Cameron, and we're going to give up our first pick next year.<\/p>\n "So you're hamstrung with what you can put out there.
