MMA superstar Robert Whittaker has fuelled hope that a clash with rugby league legend Paul Gallen<\/a> will eventuate, declaring "I've certainly got the time".<\/p>\n

The former middleweight world champion annihilated Kelvin Gastelum in a five-round Las Vegas shut-out this month<\/a> and is now set to face the winner of Marvin Vettori and Israel Adesanya. The two megastars will battle for the world title in UFC 263 on June 13.<\/p>\n

But the fact that Whittaker's fight against the winner of Vettori and Adesanya isn't likely to take place until October means the Auckland-born Australian has plenty of room in his calendar.<\/p>\n

Whittaker said he could use that time to square off with Gallen, saying "we can work something out".<\/p>\n

"I've certainly got the time if Gal wants to set that up," Whittaker told Fox Sports.<\/p>\n

"We can work something out, for sure.<\/p>\n

"I've got the time now, could be a bit of fun.<\/p>\n

"I'm in the fighting business and it would be a decent pay day.<\/p>\n

"So why not? I've got time."<\/p>\n

Former heavyweight world champion boxer Lucas Browne<\/a> clearly didn't have fun in last week's bout with Gallen at WIN Entertainment Centre, falling to the former Sharks and Blues skipper in a first-round technical knockout.<\/p>\n

Gallen's victory over Browne stands as the most impressive of his career and took his professional record to 11 wins (six by knockout), zero losses and a draw.<\/p>\n

Whittaker's manager, Titus Day, said a duel with Gallen was on the camp's radar.<\/p>\n

"They know we are keen if the timing works and they come up the required fee," Day said.<\/p>\n

He also said that Whittaker would be eyeing a pay day of around $1.5 million.<\/p>\n
