Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes<\/a> has lashed Carlton coach David Teague<\/a> over his positive spin in the press conference following his side's latest defeat. <\/p>\n

Teague has come under fire in recent weeks with the Blues slipping to a 2-4 start despite being tipped by many to make the finals in the pre-season after the off-season acquisitions of Zac Williams and Adam Saad.<\/p>\n

While die-hard Blues fans have been left livid with the performances, Teague has constantly seen the positive side.<\/p>\n

"I have belief in the way they're going about it," Teague said after Carlton's 18-point loss to Brisbane.<\/p>\n

\"David<\/p>\n

"Some people won't like hearing this, but I have a lot of confidence in our group that they're going to get better, they'll keep working at it. <\/p>\n

"We all want it to happen next week, I get that, but what we can control is the way we go about it, our work rate and our culture, and I'm really comfortable with that at the moment."<\/p>\n

Cornes was left far from impressed by Teague's message to the media and the fans and called for a more genuine response to his side's inconsistent on-field performances.<\/p>\n

"I don't think he's being honest," he told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I want to hear what he's telling the players because I hope it's not that, I really do. <\/p>\n

\"Adam<\/p>\n

"They've beaten Gold Coast and Fremantle and he's happy with how they're going. He says he feels for the fans, well so he should because it's been 20 years. <\/p>\n

"Give me what Matthew Nicks said, give me what Adam Simpson said, he said, 'We were weak', not that Carlton were weak, but I want some emotion and some passion. It's on repeat, I've played it over and over and over again."<\/p>\n

The Age's AFL reporter Sam McClure echoed Cornes' concerns, saying Teague's messaging went against the club's own ambitions for the season.<\/p>\n

"It flies in the face of what they did in recruiting, that's what's wrong with it," he told Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"They're nowhere near it. They go get Saad, they go get Williams and they say we're ready and he keeps saying, 'We'll get there', they're not a 'we'll get there' side anymore, they've had those years, it's time."<\/p>\n
