Wests Tigers<\/a> coach Michael Maguire<\/a> denies he has received a tap on the shoulder from club powerbrokers amid rumours suggesting he could soon face the axe.<\/p>\n

Following the Tigers' 40-6 defeat at the hands of Manly in Round Seven, a report surfaced that club bosses had planned "crisis meetings" regarding Maguire's future.<\/p>\n

The club moved to swiftly deny the speculation<\/a>, and according to Maguire, he remains in dialogue with the Tigers bosses, adamant he has received no indication that his dismissal is imminent.<\/p>\n

"No, I haven't been tapped (on the shoulder)," Maguire told 2GB's Wide World of Sports Radio.<\/p>\n

"I'm continuing conversations with the board and everyone that's involved at the club.<\/p>\n

"We're very focused on delivering what everyone's after, and that's a strong team that turns up week-in, week-out.<\/p>\n

"As for the noise, that's a part of the game and I've been around long enough to understand those things happen."<\/p>\n

Maguire urged fans to have patience with the club's young roster, suggesting that time is needed to build a consistent winner on the field.<\/p>\n

"When you first arrive at the club, you assess where you're at and you obviously face all sorts of different challenges," he said.<\/p>\n

"I've had some positives since I've been here for sure, but the big thing is taking a little bit (of time) to build the squad so it becomes a long-term successful club.<\/p>\n

"You've got to look at the salary cap, how things are done around the organisation and all those sorts of things. It does take time.<\/p>\n

"I've got a young spine at the moment, but in saying that, I've got a No.9 who has just played his first game last week, I've got a young fullback that's just come on board in Daine Laurie.<\/p>\n

\"Daine<\/p>\n

"They are brilliant kids. Could they be the next superstars of the game? That's what we've got to work out to create, but that comes with time, effort and energy and those combinations have got to grow."<\/p>\n

Fans have been left incredibly frustrated by the club's dismal 1-6 start to the season, but Maguire issued a passionate plea to the Wests Tigers faithful.<\/p>\n

"You may not be seeing it on the park at the moment, but there (are) a lot of great things that this group is doing," he said.<\/p>\n

"They are so dedicated and hungry about what they're trying to achieve. One thing I do know, the longer they stay at it, the wins will come off the back of what they're doing."<\/p>\n
