The Wests Tigers<\/a> have "vehemently" denied Michael Maguire<\/a>'s future as coach is in jeopardy after reports emerged suggesting the club's powerbrokers were headed for "crisis meetings".<\/p>\n

Maguire's position has steadily come under scrutiny in recent weeks, with the ANZAC Day humiliation at the hands of Manly the cherry on top of a miserable start to the season.<\/p>\n

After a Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> report suggested that "fed up" club officials ordered an internal review after the Sea Eagles dispatched the Wests Tigers 40-6, the club moved quickly to dispel any rumours.<\/p>\n

"Contrary to media reports, Wests Tigers can vehemently deny there are crisis meetings being held at the club," a statement read.<\/p>\n

"Whilst disappointed with recent results, all at Wests Tigers remain firmly united and committed to producing a strong and competitive season together, and ready to get back to work tomorrow in preparation for Round 8."<\/p>\n

Maguire is understood to have a clause in his newly-signed two-year extension that allows the club to relieve him of his duties without requiring a hefty payout. <\/p>\n

After yet another demoralising day at the office against Manly in Round Seven, Maguire was left searching for answers.<\/p>\n

That is part of it, yeah," he told reporters when asked whether his teams struggles this year were mental.<\/p>\n

"We played for 25 minutes, then all of a sudden the momentum went against us. So it's about what's going on between your ears and how you handle that. That's a part of what helps you control the next set. <\/p>\n

"The big thing we need to do is, whatever is happening next needs to be the most important thing. That's where we need to be living. <\/p>\n

"It's not about the outcome, it's about what you're doing at that present moment to be the best."<\/p>\n
