Adelaide<\/a> football boss Adam Kelly has defended veteran Tom Lynch after he was criticised for not immediately entering the field as the medical subsitute.<\/p>\n

Lynch started the Crows' three-point loss to Hawthorn<\/a> as the allocated medical subsitute, and was summoned in the third quarter after young defender Will Hamill picked up a game-ending ankle injury.<\/p>\n

However, instead of immediately coming onto the ground, the veteran forward was seen going into the Crows changerooms to do a warm-up.<\/p>\n

"I still can't believe this," Hawks great Jason Dunstall told Fox Footy.<\/p>\n

"There's a story to that because it is unprofessional if the sub isn't ready to go.<\/p>\n

"There's something wrong there."<\/p>\n

\"Tom<\/p>\n

Kelly revealed why Lynch, who had been recovering from a toe injury, took so long to reach the ground.<\/p>\n

"We sent Tom Lynch down into the rooms to get ready to take the field," he said.<\/p>\n

"With Tom, as has been the case for three or four weeks now, he requires some treatment prior to being able to go out onto the field.<\/p>\n

"What we did say was 'take the time you need to be right to play, knowing we wanted him available to go onto the field for the first rotation in that last quarter.<\/p>\n

"We anticipated that was going to be around the five-minute mark of that last quarter.<\/p>\n

"He was available to go onto the field about two-and-a-half minutes into that last quarter where he was up on the interchange."<\/p>\n
