Star Geelong recruit Jeremy Cameron<\/a> has made an instant impact in his first game for his new club, kicking three goals in a 97-point demolition job against West Coast.<\/p>\n

Despite the teams looking evenly matched on paper, the Cats kicked 19 goals to two after quarter-time to run out 21. 10. (136) to 5. 9. (39) winners<\/a> at GMHBA Stadium.<\/p>\n

After being sidelined by a hamstring injury he sustained during the pre-season, Cameron showed just how lethal he makes the Cats' forward line, kicking three goals in the win.<\/p>\n

The 2019 Coleman Medallist received a rousing reception by the Cats faithful in attendance and he seemingly took a shot at GWS Giants fans when asked about the crowd after the match.<\/p>\n

"I must admit, I had chills at times out on the field and I've never had that in my career," Cameron told Fox Footy after the win.<\/p>\n

"The way they get behind this group is awesome and it's a pretty cool place down here at the Cattery. <\/p>\n

It was great fun out there, I had an absolute ball. I was pretty excited going in. It's not the start to the season I was hoping for, but to finally get out there with the boys was awesome."<\/p>\n

Cameron admitted that he had been left frustrated during his absence, adding that he wasn't a "great watcher of football" <\/p>\n

The addition of the 28-year-old seemed to spark Geelong's forward line, with fellow forwards Tom Hawkins and Gary Rohan also kicking three goals apiece, while Mitch Duncan kicked four majors, including a 60m torpedo bomb<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"I thought (the forward chemistry) was really good," Cameron said.<\/p>\n

"I've mentioned over the last couple of months that it's one of those things that sometimes it'll work and sometimes it won't, so we've got to be patient with it. <\/p>\n

"We're always working on it at training and talking about it during the week." <\/p>\n

Cameron also earned rave reviews on his return from AFL legend Leigh Matthews, who suggested that his impact on Geelong could be greater than that of injured star Patrick Dangerfield.<\/p>\n

"Dangerfield is clearly an outstanding player, but in terms of what Geelong need the most, I have a feeling Cameron is more important," Matthews said on 3AW's coverage.<\/p>\n

Faced with the prospect of a lockdown when they return back to WA, a dirty day for the Eagles was compounded by an injury to star defender Jeremy McGovern.<\/p>\n

McGovern pulled his right groin in the second quarter and was substituted off, while Jamie Cripps also picked up a knock in the second half. <\/p>\n

West Coast is likely to be without McGovern when it takes on cross-town rivals Fremantle next week, while Geelong will travel to Sydney to take on the Swans.<\/p>\n
