The Sydney Swans are now facing an even more disastrous injury crisis after copping a 40-point thrashing at the hands of the Gold Coast Suns<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After Lance Franklin was ruled out for up to a month after last week's match, hard nut George Hewett suffered a concussion in a collision with young Sun Sam Flanders, while rising forward Nick Blakey was left with a badly corked thigh.<\/p>\n

Along with Franklin's injury, the Swans also have the likes of in-form ruckman Tom Hickey and co-captain Dane Rampe on their injury list.<\/p>\n

In a possible sign of Sydney's grim injury situation, young gun Isaac Heeney missed just one game after breaking a hand in round four, returning for the Suns clash despite facing up to a month out.<\/p>\n

Blakey hobbled around close to the goal square with a heavily strapped thigh over the final three quarters, but coach John Longmire said the weight of his side's injuries meant he couldn't remove the No.10 2018 draft pick from the game.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

"We had a few that were sore. We had a few, particularly in our front half, that couldn't run … We lost Georgey Hewett early," Longmire told reporters after the match.<\/p>\n

"We tried to keep Nick out there because there were a couple of others who were a little bit sore in our front half.<\/p>\n

"Sometimes you've just got to try to manufacture that to make sure you get your rotations.<\/p>\n

"In the end he (Nick) was clearly hindered and it meant we were only down to two.<\/p>\n

"But we still had a couple (others) sore as well.<\/p>\n

"You've just got to make sure with what you've got at the time."<\/p>\n

Sydney's Metricon Stadium loss means they've fallen to back-to-back defeats after starting the season with four wins in a row.<\/p>\n

They were pipped by the Giants in one of the most thrilling Sydney derbies in history last week, before today's lacklustre performance against the Suns followed.<\/p>\n

Longmire rued his side's lack of intensity at the contest in the loss to Gold Coast.<\/p>\n
