Fremantle's Round Six clash against North Melbourne<\/a> at Optus Stadium will be played behind closed doors after an outbreak in Perth's hotel quarantine system.<\/p>\n

Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan announced that the state would enter into a three-day lockdown<\/a> from midnight on Friday after two people tested positive to COVID-19 following their stay in hotel quarantine.<\/p>\n

Despite the state's lockdown, the Fremantle-North clash, scheduled for 8:15 pm AEST at Optus Stadium on Saturday, will be allowed to go ahead due to a special exemption.<\/p>\n

North Melbourne had already arrived in Perth before the lockdown was announced by Premier McGowan.<\/p>\n

The state's other AFL team, the West Coast Eagles, flew out of WA on Thursday and are currently scheduled to play Geelong at 1:45 pm AEST<\/a> on Saturday afternoon at GMHBA Stadium.<\/p>\n

West Coast and Fremantle are set to face each other in the Western Derby at Optus Stadium in Round Seven, with the match scheduled for 4:40 pm AEST on Sunday, May 2.<\/p>\n

According to Premier McGowan, whether a crowd is allowed to watch the Derby in person hinges on the success of the three-day lockdown.<\/p>\n

Due to the WA lockdown only beginning at midnight, fans will be permitted in full capacity at Friday night's Super Rugby clash between the Western Force and Queensland Reds, which will take place at HBF Park in Perth at 7:45 pm AEST.<\/p>\n

Fans will also be allowed to watch Friday night's NBL clash between the Perth Wildcats and the Brisbane Bullets at RAC Arena in Perth, with the match scheduled to get underway at 9:30 pm AEST.<\/p>\n

While fans are permitted to attend both fixtures, they will have to do so while wearing masks.<\/p>\n
