Adam Scott<\/a> is the latest big-name golfer to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics,<\/a> with the Golf Channel reporting he'll skip the event.<\/p>\n

As Australia's second-ranked golfer, Scott would have been guaranteed a start in Tokyo, but has instead chosen to spend time with his family.<\/p>\n

Scott skipped the Rio Games in 2016 after admitting the Olympics was "nothing I've ever aspired to do and I don't think I ever will."<\/p>\n

"With the world being the way it is, Adam is gone 4-5 weeks at a time this year during his playing blocks," Scott's manager John Elliot said in a statement to GolfChannel.com.<\/p>\n

\"Adam<\/p>\n

"With three young children at home, this time in the schedule will be devoted to family. It is pretty much the only time up until October when he has a chance to see them for a stretch of time and not only a few days a week."<\/p>\n

With Tokyo's golf event scheduled to run from July 29-August 1, it's sandwiched between The Open Championship and the PGA Tour's rich playoff events, leaving the game's leading players with a choice to make.<\/p>\n

Scott's ranking his slipped from 6th in the world just over a year ago to 35th this week, with the 40-year-old recording just one top-10 finish in his last 16 events.<\/p>\n

World No.1 Dustin Johnson<\/a> has already confirmed he won't play in Tokyo, citing, like Scott, the crowded schedule.<\/p>\n

"It's a lot of traveling at a time where it's important for me to feel like I'm focused playing on the PGA Tour," Johnson said.<\/p>\n

Scott's absence leaves Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman as Australia's most likely pairing for Tokyo.<\/p>\n
