Will Pucovski<\/a> is expected to open the batting alongside David Warner<\/a> in next summer's Ashes series, but the 23-year-old has reportedly been overlooked for a Cricket Australia contract.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> reports Matthew Wade has also been dumped, just months after captaining Australia in the T20 format.<\/p>\n

Cricket Australia is expected to unveil the list today, ahead of a 12-month period that includes a home Ashes series and a T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n

The list has reportedly been pared down to the minimum 17 contracts, three less than a year ago. Players who miss out can be upgraded during the year if they earn enough points via selection for national teams.<\/p>\n

Exciting all-rounder Cameron Green<\/a> will be part of the list for the first time, on the back of a summer where he made his Test debut and finished as the Sheffield Shield's leading runscorer.<\/p>\n

His inclusion, along with the reduction from 20 to 17 contracts, means four players from last year will miss out.<\/p>\n

Wade, who played all four matches against India but failed to pass 50 in any of his eight innings, is one casualty, while dumped opener Joe Burns is also expected to miss out after a horror run in 2020-21.<\/p>\n

The expected omission of Pucovski is also likely to raise eyebrows, after he made 62 and 10 on Test debut against India in Sydney.<\/a> However, he required a shoulder reconstruction in February<\/a>, with his recovery expected to take between four and six months.<\/p>\n

Fast bowler Pat Cummins is expected to remain as Australia's No.1 ranked player.<\/p>\n
