Cronulla halfback Chad Townsend's move to the North Queensland Cowboys has reportedly been confirmed.<\/p>\n

News surfaced late last night that the veteran playmaker was set to walk on his long-time club to relocate to t<\/a>he Sunshine State following the departure of coach John Morris.<\/p>\n

The Australian<\/em> reports the 2022 move has now been confirmed, with Townsend wishing to first address his Sharks teammates when they return from a day off before the news is officially announced.<\/p>\n

The veteran halfback is set to earn $2 million over three years, according to The Daily Telegraph<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Townsend had until Round 13 to activate an option in his favour for 2022, while the Sharks had an option in their favour for 2023.<\/p>\n

The acquisition of Townsend will all but end the Cowboys' hunt for Souths halfback Adam Reynolds, who is believed to be eager to remain in Sydney should he walk from the Bunnies.<\/p>\n

North Queensland reportedly used the money saved through the medical retirement of Michael Morgan to bag Townsend.<\/p>\n
