A new twist has emerged in the Collingwood phone breach saga<\/a> after it was revealed today the club had previously been cautioned by the AFL over the use of mobile phones.<\/p>\n

The Magpies were put under the microscope when star forward Jordan De Goey and defender Jeremy Howe, who had both come off the ground due to injuries, were seen with their phones in their hands in the changerooms<\/a> during the second quarter of their side's loss to West Coast.<\/p>\n

But it's been reported by SEN today that prior to the incident in Perth, the club had been identified by a matchday integrity staffer as having failed to adhere to league protocols.<\/p>\n

The club at the time didn't receive a sanction from the AFL but was told to tighten up its game-day procedures.<\/p>\n

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley<\/a> last night blamed a concussion for De Goey<\/a> grabbing both his and his teammate's phones inside the changerooms.<\/p>\n

Buckley's response comes after the club was issued with a 'please explain' from the AFL.<\/p>\n

"All I know is that the bloke we're talking about that grabbed the phones had just been omitted from the game from concussion," Buckley told Fox Footy. "So he's not thinking straight."<\/p>\n
