Rugby league legend Paul Gallen<\/a> says the Australian boxers who've lost to Lucas Browne<\/a> were "scared" and has declared "I don't fear him" ahead of their heavyweight bout on Wednesday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Browne has an exceptional record of 29 wins (25 by knockout), two losses and zero draws – he's also a former heavyweight world champion – but Gallen says his success is built on the fact his rivals "shit themselves and let him punch them".<\/p>\n

"Everyone he's fought in Australia – everyone bar the blokes who almost killed him – have been scared before they got in the ring," Gallen said.<\/p>\n

"They've been scared of him. They think about it too much. They stand there and they shit themselves and let him punch them.<\/p>\n

"I'm not going to do that. I'm not scared of him.<\/p>\n

"I respect him, I respect what he's done, I was a Lucas Browne fan, I've said that before, but there's a big difference between respecting someone and being scared of them – and people before have been scared of him.<\/p>\n

"I'm not scared of him. I don't fear him.<\/p>\n

"I'm going to get in there on Wednesday … and beat him."<\/p>\n

Gallen developed a reputation during his 19-year rugby league career with the Sharks, NSW and Australia as one of the toughest competitors in the game.<\/p>\n

He racked up giant metres, tackled relentlessly and was often in the thick of a scuffle, defending his teammates and relishing niggle from opponents.<\/p>\n

Gallen's love of rough footy was on full display when he hit Queensland enforcer Nate Myles flush on the chin – first with a left hook, then a right – in the first match of the 2013 State of Origin series.<\/p>\n

His hard edge again shone through in his brutal fight with former UFC superstar Mark Hunt in December<\/a>, when he copped several vicious punches but outlasted the Samoan monster in a six-round unanimous-points win.<\/p>\n

"(Lucas Browne) thinks he's going to get in there and beat me – and he's in for the shock of his life," Gallen said.<\/p>\n

"He's not going to handle the pace I'm going at, he's not going to handle the pressure.<\/p>\n

"He calls himself the GOAT, he calls me the footballer. He's got no respect for what I've done in the sport – and that's fine. I don't mind.<\/p>\n

"But when I get in there and beat him on Wednesday night it ends him."<\/p>\n
