Jackson Hastings is set to end a three-year NRL exile, with the 25-year-old on the verge of signing a multi-season deal with the Wests Tigers.<\/a><\/p>\n

Hastings hasn't played in Australia since being released by Manly in 2018<\/a>, instead rebuilding his career, and his reputation, in the Super League with both Salford and Wigan.<\/p>\n

The Tigers have both Luke Brooks and Adam Douiehi under contract until 2023, indicating they see Hastings more as a utility than a starting half; though there have been some questions about Brooks' future at the club that will only grow louder with Hastings' signing.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> reports Hastings is expected to sign this week.<\/p>\n

Hastings would be a like-for-like replacement for Billy Walters, who is expected to move to Brisbane next season to play under his father, Kevin.<\/p>\n

According to the Herald, the Tigers remain hopeful Hastings can play a part in their 2021 campaign, but at this stage Wigan is unwilling to release the playmaker early.<\/p>\n

Hastings, who won the 2019 Man of Steel award for the Super League player of the year, moved to England after a falling out with Daly Cherry-Evans and then Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett.<\/p>\n

That followed a night out at a strip club after the club's loss to Gold Coast in Gladstone.<\/p>\n

"We got beat and we weren't allowed to go out," Hastings told The Locker Room<\/em> podcast in 2018.<\/p>\n

"To be honest, the worst thing we did was break curfew and it's something that I look back on and it's just so stupid.<\/p>\n

"Looking back, I just can't believe that I broke curfew and that's what s–ts me the most.<\/p>\n

"It's true what they say, decisions make your career and I made a f—ing stupid one."<\/p>\n
