Gary Ablett<\/a> has indicated that he could make a shock AFL comeback through the mid-season after initially retiring from the game after last year's grand final.<\/p>\n

Ablett played his final match in Geelong's 31-point loss to Richmond<\/a> in the decider, but has admitted that he is weighing up returning to the Cats for the back half of the year.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old would have to return to the AFL via the mid-season draft, and admitted that the shoulder he injured in his final match still wasn't fully healed.<\/p>\n

"After I had my shoulder surgery (third reconstruction) and found out we had recruited Isaac Smith, Shaun Higgins and Jeremy Cameron, I actually called Andrew Mackie (list management at Geelong) and said 'mate, if you had let me know you were recruiting those guys I would have stayed around for another year'," he told the Herald Sun.<\/p>\n

"He had a bit of a laugh and I said, 'if there is such a thing as a six or seven-game contract please let me know because I will be ready for the last three or four games of the season and finals football'.<\/p>\n

"Yes, I am retired and enjoying the time with my family but if Geelong put that to me, then I am open to that conversation. <\/p>\n

"I would then have to weigh it up. I feel as if my shoulder is a couple of months away from being as good as it's going to get."<\/p>\n

The two-time Brownlow Medallist currently has 357 games to his name to go along with 445 goals.<\/p>\n
