Broncos coach Kevin Walters has lifted the lid on his club's decision to insert dual-code star Karmichael Hunt<\/a> into the squad.<\/p>\n

Hunt, a 2006 NRL premiership-winner with the Broncos, will join the squad on Monday on a train and trial contract.<\/a><\/p>\n

The code-hopper, who famously left rugby league for a brief stint in the AFL before switching to rugby union where he represented the Wallabies, returned to the NRL earlier this year \u2013 making a comeback in the Intrust Super Cup in Queensland.<\/p>\n

Following the Broncos' 20-12 loss to the Panthers<\/a>, Walters said the club is waiting for the "green light" for Hunt to begin his training duties with the team.<\/p>\n

"We have made some inquiries on Karmichael," Walters told reporters.<\/p>\n

"We are just waiting to get the green light I guess. He is a former Bronco and a good experienced player so yeah."<\/p>\n

However, Brisbane's decision to insert Hunt comes after Walters famously ruled out making a play for Hunt just two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

"What did I rule it out?" Walters said when asked why he previously ruled Hunt out.<\/p>\n

"Oh well can I… am I allowed to change my mind?"<\/p>\n

Walters added that he hopes Hunt will be available for selection by Round 10.<\/p>\n

"I feel Karmichael can add to this group with his presence so we will see what happens," he said.<\/p>\n

"He won't be available until he gets into the top 30. I think Round 10 he can come.<\/p>\n

"So we just want to get him in and have a look at him and get him around the group and see what he can offer and what he can bring."<\/p>\n
