While Morris himself described the meeting as "encouraging" he was left without a direct answer on his future, with Gould attributing to the hold-out on the Sharks' desire to form a coaching dream team.<\/p>\n
According to a Sydney Morning Herald report<\/a>, Fitzgibbon would assume the role as Cronulla's head coach, while Ciraldo would be his assistant. Bellamy, a three-time premiership-winning coach at the Storm, would oversee the duo as a coaching director.<\/p>\n "I've personally spoken to just about everyone involved in this," Gould told Nine's 100% Footy<\/em>.<\/p>\n "They're all saying that nothing has been decided at the moment.<\/p>\n "There was a meeting today between the Sharks management and John Morris, to say that with all the speculation going on in the media over the weekend, we need to bring this to a head.<\/p>\n "They told John Morris he still is a contender for the job going forward.<\/p>\n "However, they have admitted they've got a significant interest in Craig Fitzgibbon and Cameron Ciraldo.<\/p>\n "They still remain with a significant interest of Craig Bellamy being a coaching director and overseeing the whole thing at the club.<\/p>\n https:\/\/twitter.com\/NRLonNine\/status\/1381590136765493248<\/a><\/p>\n "And nor would they deny that they would do all three and have Fitzgibbon, Ciraldo and Bellamy all at the club at the one time.<\/p>\n "I said, 'That's a big package', and they said, 'Yes. We're very serious'."<\/p>\n The situation has been a tough one for a number of Sharks players and fans given Morris has led the club to back-to-back finals appearances since taking over from Shane Flanagan at the start of the 2019 season.<\/p>\n Club veteran Aaron Woods last week said Cronulla would struggle to re-sign and lure players<\/a> if the board did not come to a decision soon.<\/p>\n Cronulla legend Paul Gallen, a close friend of Morris, urged his former side to make a decision as soon as possible so they don't miss out on their window to sign players on the market.<\/p>\n "If I was John Morris, I would say, 'Back me, or sack me'," Gallen told 100% Footy<\/em>.<\/p>\n "They need to back him or move on. I want to see a decision made ASAP for the Sharks fans, for the Sharks as a club and for the players.<\/p>\n "The first thing you want to know when you go to a club is who the coach is.<\/p>\n "The Sharks have in excess of $3 million to spend next year. I know they've already missed out on Matt Burton because he didn't know who the coach would be, that's one reason.<\/p>\n "They need to sign players. In the next six weeks, a lot of the big players are going to be signed.<\/p>\n "We want to know who the coach is going to be.<\/p>\n "I'm sick of speculation.
