A stunning Bunker controversy has spoiled what had been shaping to be a historic Leichhardt Oval comeback by Wests Tigers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trailing 28-6 at half-time<\/a>, the Tigers came out firing, racking up three quickfire tries through David Nofoaluma, Luciano Leilua and Luke garner to pull within eight points of their rivals.<\/p>\n

They looked to have taken the game back when Nofoaluma crossed over again minutes later to have the Tigers on the brink of the undoable.<\/p>\n

But before Adam Doueihi could attempt his conversion, he was held up by the Bunker examining the play. After a lengthy review, the try was overturned when it was deemed that James Roberts had impeded defenders while attempting to make a stop on Noafaluma.<\/p>\n

The whole sequence left rugby league guru and long-time Bunker enemy Phil Gould ropeable as the Cowboys held on for a 34-30 win.<\/p>\n

"This is the Bunker's cry for attention," Gould said in commentary for Nine.<\/p>\n

"You tell me that is good for the game.<\/p>\n

"What was a great Sunday afternoon of entertainment, and what was coming down to a great finish, has been ruined by an over-zealous Bunker crying for attention.<\/p>\n

"Peter V'landys, this has got to stop. What happened here today was terrible."<\/p>\n

To make matters worse, after the wind was taken from the Tigers' sail, the Cowboys stormed down the other end and crossed over to dash any hopes of a Leichhardt fairytale.<\/p>\n
