AFL great Matthew Lloyd fears it could be the last season in charge for Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley following his side's slow start to the season.<\/p>\n

The Magpies last night slumped to a 1-3 start<\/a> following a 30-point loss to an undermanned GWS side.<\/p>\n

Since taking over as the head coach of the club back in 2012, Buckley has achieved a win percentage of 54.5 (114 win, 93 defeats, two draws) from a total of 209 games to date. He's led the side to five finals series, with one Grand Final appearance back in 2018.<\/p>\n

But with a trip to Perth next week to face West Coast, Lloyd fears another loss could impact the club's finals hopes for 2021, which could force a move starting from the top with Buckley's position.<\/p>\n

"They go to Perth to play the West Coast Eagles and I think they will be one and four," Lloyd told Nine's Sunday Footy Show.<\/p>\n

"That probably puts them just about out of the finals.<\/p>\n

"When you leave your coach unsigned, which is very rare, and they don't make the finals and he's been there for ten years, my feeling is it's a 50\/50 line ball.<\/p>\n

"But my guess is he won't coach Collingwood next year based on not making the finals, leaving the coach out of contract – I think they will be definitely looking around to see if there's a better option."<\/p>\n

The Magpies during last year's trade period controversially bid farewell to star players Adam Treloar and Jaidyn Stephenson<\/a>, while respected midfielder Tom Phillips was also moved on.<\/p>\n

Lloyd said the moves made during the trade period has now exposed a lack of depth on the Collingwood playing list. <\/p>\n

"They absolutely botched the trade period," he added.<\/p>\n

"You let go of Adam Treloar, Jaidyn Stephenson and Tom Phillips.<\/p>\n

"It was always going to hurt your depth unless you had good young kids you thought were better, but we're not seeing that.<\/p>\n

"Suddenly that's put a lot of pressure on the depth at Collingwood."<\/p>\n

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes added: "It's farcical Collingwood are paying a fair chunk of Treloar's wage, who is dominating for ladder leaders the Western Bulldogs."<\/p>\n
