{"id":56258,"date":"2021-04-09T21:42:46","date_gmt":"2021-04-09T21:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=56258"},"modified":"2021-04-10T05:58:55","modified_gmt":"2021-04-10T05:58:55","slug":"leishman-powers-into-contention-at-masters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=56258","title":{"rendered":"Leishman powers into contention at Masters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/9now.app.link\/BpVorET6kbb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Tune into Gem for live coverage of The Masters from 5am and head to 9Now for extra streams of featured groups, Amen Corner and the 15th and 16th holes!\"><em><strong>Tune into Gem for live coverage of The Masters from 5am and head to 9Now for extra streams of featured groups, Amen Corner and the 15<\/strong><\/em><em><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><\/em> <em><strong>and 16<\/strong><\/em><em><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><\/em> <em><strong>holes!<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Marc Leishman had another fast start at the Masters, and this time he finished it.<\/p>\n<p>Leishman and Cameron Smith led the way for Australia on day two as English leader Justin Rose showed signs of stumbling midway through the second round.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Rose displaying career-best form on Friday (AEST), which saw the Brit card a seven-under 65, the 40-year-old&#x27;s start on day two wasn&#x27;t ideal, dropping three shots in his opening seven holes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/golf\/live-scores\/masters-tournament-2021\/22615\" title=\"MASTERS 2021 LEADER BOARD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\"><strong>MASTERS 2021 LEADER BOARD<\/strong><\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The two-time Masters runner-up was able to claw his way back with three late birdies to post an even-par 72, holding\u00a0the clubhouse lead at seven under.<\/p>\n<p>However, his four shot overnight lead was cut to just one with Americans Will Zalatoris (68) and Brian Harman (69) tied for second.<\/p>\n<p>Leishman is a shot back and birdied his first three holes on Saturday, surging down the back nine to shoot 67.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"c1207b6d-1e25-430f-83ca-2f1ac05a7824\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/c1207b6d-1e25-430f-83ca-2f1ac05a7824\" alt=\"\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He moved to four-under on the day with a birdie at the 13th and held part of the lead with another birdie on the 15th until Rose pushed back late, making birdies at the 13th, 14th and 16th.<\/p>\n<p>Leishman was four under through his opening eight holes in round one until he stumbled home to a 72. He managed to show more consistency in round two, to finish his 36 holes at 5-under 139.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I kept it going today, it was a disappointing finish yesterday. Still a good score on a tough day. Really happy to shoot a -5 today,&quot; Leishman said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I think you enjoy everyday out here to be honest. I think you have to. It&#x27;s very tough but you have to enjoy the challenge. I certainly enjoyed it today. Particularly with the way the greens are.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Leishman said he was especially satisfied with the way he handled Amen corner, after falling short the day before.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It was good to get through there especially at 13th, &quot; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I&#x27;d bogeyed 11 bounced back on 12 and follow it up with another birdie on 13. I didn&#x27;t birdie it yesterday I kind of felt like I lost a shot there.
