World No.12 Rory McIlroy<\/a> has had a moment he will never forget on the opening day of The Masters<\/a> after he accidentally hit his dad with an errant shot.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred with McIlroy on the seventh hole in Round One when an approach shot went awry when the ball landed in the spectators' area.<\/p>\n

An audible gasp could be heard from those in attendance before McIlroy's own caddie, childhood best friend Harry Diamond, noticed someone familiar among those ducking for cover.<\/p>\n

\"Rory<\/p>\n

"That was your dad you hit?" Diamond could be heard asking McIlroy.<\/p>\n

"Yeah!" McIlroy replied, confirming the hit.<\/p>\n

The hilarious incident also caught the attention of the commentary team who could scarcely believe what they had just seen.<\/p>\n

"He's hit his dad!" one commentator said.<\/p>\n

"The smile you could see as he said, 'Yeah!' was what was kind of interesting there."<\/p>\n
