West Coast Eagles small forward Liam Ryan lodged an early contender for mark of the year when he launched for a stunning specky over Darcy Byrne-Jones during his side's 37-point win against Port Adelaide.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 179-centimetre livewire got his knee on the neck of the Port Adelaide backman and hauled down the ball in a play that left fans and footy legends in awe.<\/p>\n

Western Bulldogs great Luke Darcy added: "I thought he'd gone too early.<\/p>\n

Asked what goes through his mind during a high-flying moment, Ryan said he simply didn't want to "stand around" and allow his opponent to get the better of him.<\/p>\n

"I just jumped on the bloke's head," Ryan said after the match.<\/p>\n

"I'm not going to stand around like a statue. I've got to do my thing."<\/p>\n
