Matildas captain Sam Kerr<\/a> has earned the tag of best striker in the world after lifting Chelsea into the semi-finals of the Champions League.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old bagged a goal, her 20th of the campaign, and played a pivotal role in another as Chelsea stormed to a 3-0 victory over German champions Wolfsburg in a second-leg quarter-final to secure a 5-1 aggregate win.<\/p>\n

Kerr won a first-half penalty after being brought down in the box, before Danish superstar Pernille Harder beat the goal-keeper.<\/p>\n

Kerr's scintillating prowess in attack was then on display as the Western Australian turned her opposite inside-out and blasted a strike into the bottom-right corner.<\/p>\n

When asked on BT Sport's coverage whether Kerr was among the best strikers in the world, football great Karen Carney said: "She is the best for me."<\/p>\n

Carney, who represented England on 144 occasions, was in awe at Kerr's goal.<\/p>\n

"Her movement is exceptional, the way she peels off, finds space," Carney said.<\/p>\n

"Fran [Kirby] peeled off for her [Kerr's] goal but it was the movement, to check after the ball came to feet, the protection of the ball, the turn."<\/p>\n

Carney said Kerr had blossomed into wonderful form at Chelsea.<\/p>\n

"It didn't work for her at the start of the season but people have got to understand the pressure, the expectation she faced, going into Chelsea with a big name on your jersey," Carney said.<\/p>\n

"And [Chelsea manager] Emma Hayes stood by her, [saying] 'I've spent 18 months recruiting her, I'm going to stand by her because I know this girl is going to win us the Champions League'. And she will.<\/p>\n

"She's outstanding. She's the best forward in Europe at the moment."<\/p>\n
