Queensland Reds flyer Suliasi Vunivalu could be grounded for up to a month with the hamstring injury suffered in Saturday's crushing 46-14 win over the NSW Waratahs.<\/a><\/p>\n

The former NRL star announced himself in Super Rugby AU with a matchwinning play the previous weekend against the Western Force.<\/a><\/p>\n

But the unbeaten ladder leaders might not have the winger's services until the finals after an unfortunate diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Vunivalu was on Sunday named in a 40 man Wallabies squad.<\/a><\/p>\n

"He's got a minor hamstring twinge and it's under management," Reds football boss Sam Cordingley said.<\/p>\n

"It'll be under a month at this stage.<\/p>\n

"We've got pretty good medical staff that have brought players back in good time… hopefully between two and four weeks."<\/p>\n

Before Saturday's match, Wallabies coach Dave Rennie expressed his enthusiasm at the code hopper's progress.<\/a><\/p>\n

"He's getting better and better," Rennie said.<\/p>\n

"He was a real handful last week.<\/p>\n

"As you know, he's a really good athlete.<\/p>\n

"He's learning, you can't play the ball on the ground when you're lying on the ground.<\/p>\n

"He's been caught out a couple of times defending as you would in league, but he's a smart man and he's certainly making an impact."<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Reds are basing themselves in Sydney this week following the COVID-19 breakout in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

They will then fly to Melbourne later this week for Saturday's clash against the Rebels.<\/p>\n

"We're working closely with Rugby Australia and the Victorian Government on achieving safe entry into Melbourne, hopefully at some stage this week," Cordingley said.<\/p>\n

"The plan that's been submitted will allow us to be based in Sydney until later in the week.<\/p>\n

"Arriving into Melbourne with current protocols in place, would have undertake a COVID test, that is all players and staff, and then quarantine until we receive a negative test result."<\/p>\n
