The South Sydney Rabbitohs are an NRL club that pride themselves on loyalty, the local community and tribalism.<\/p>\n

So why are they playing games with their inspirational skipper Adam Reynolds<\/a>, who bleeds red-and-green?<\/p>\n

Russell Crowe dusts off the 'Book of Feuds' before a local derby with the Roosters and if they aren't careful, the passionate supporters won't be marching through the streets to demand a return to the competition, they'll instead be protesting the departure of their halfback.<\/p>\n

The stalemate between the local junior and the Bunnies has reached tipping point, with Reynolds' manager Steve 'Chimes' Gillis telling 2GB's Continuous Call Team: "I haven't spoken to Souths for a couple of weeks. <\/p>\n

"I think it'll unravel in the next few weeks, either something will give or he probably won't be there."<\/p>\n

When pressed further about Reynold's future at Redfern, Gillis conceded: "At the moment, it's more than likely he won't be there."\u00a0<\/p>\n

I'm still struggling to understand their reluctance to re-sign the skipper when he's one of the most popular players at the club, grew up around the corner from Redfern Oval, guided them to a premiership in 2014 and is one of the best goalkickers in the NRL. <\/p>\n

If you were putting together a wish-list, Adam Reynolds ticks all the boxes.<\/p>\n

It's my understanding the man dubbed by his teammates "the little halfback" would be happy to commit for another two seasons, but the Bunnies won't budge on a one-year deal. Doesn't the bloke deserve a bit more respect? <\/p>\n

I grew up supporting the South Sydney Rabbitohs.\u00a0 I learnt about the history and some of the clubs favourite sons like Bob McCarthy, John Sattler, George Piggins and Craig Coleman.<\/p>\n

If you talk to the supporters in 'The Burrow', who brave the elements to cheer on their team, they'll all tell you Adam Reynolds is up there with one of the most treasured players to ever wear the cardinal and myrtle. <\/p>\n

He's a family man who made it big from a housing commission background and if the club officials allow him to quit the Bunnies, they'll tear apart the fabric of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.<\/p>\n

Blake Taaffe is considered the long-term replacement but the young half won't be ready next year if Reynolds decides to leave; so they're about to lose the heart and soul of the team, their goalkicker and their experienced halfback for an untried 21-year-old.<\/p>\n

To quote Phil Gould: "No, no, no, no, no."<\/p>\n

I've got a lot of respect for chairman Nick Pappas, CEO Blake Solly and football manager Mark Ellison but I'd hate to be the man responsible for the departure of Adam Reynolds, who's still got plenty to offer in the NRL. <\/p>\n

For goodness sake fellas, stop playing games and get the deal done. <\/p>\n

I proudly marched down Chalmers Street to Town Hall when the South Sydney Rabbitohs were kicked out of the competition and I have no doubt the same emotion will follow if they stand by and allow 'Reyno' to pull on a jumper at another club. <\/p>\n

I know there's no more loyalty in rugby league and it's become a business but when you've got a bloke who wants to remain a one-club player, why aren't the clubs and the NRL itself bending over backwards to ensure he isn't lost to another team? <\/p>\n
