Carlton captain Patrick Cripps<\/a> is playing through a mystery injury that requires him to have injections on a weekly basis, according to an SEN report.<\/p>\n

Cripps' form has come under the spotlight with his side starting 0-2 for a ninth consecutive year, with the captain well below his best in the Round Two loss to Collingwood<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to veteran AFL reporter Sam Edmund, a mystery injury is to blame for the Carlton star's slow start to the 2021 season.<\/p>\n

"I know people are sick to death of an alibi when it comes to Patrick Cripps, but the fact of the matter is he's been plagued by an injury that requires weekly injections to get him to the start line," Edmund told SEN's Time On<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"Patrick<\/p>\n

"I've been told by club sources that if this was a pre-season time of the year, December or January, then Paddy Cripps would be put on ice for four to six weeks. <\/p>\n

"This mystery injury has got him playing hurt. I am told that there is no risk of the injury getting worse, so he's just got to put up with it." <\/p>\n

Edmund's report comes after Carlton coach David Teague denied that Cripps had any lingering injuries following the loss to Collingwood.<\/p>\n

Cripps and the Blues will look to get their first win on the board when they host Fremantle at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
