Geelong forward Gary Rohan<\/a> has been handed a two-match ban by the AFL's Match Review Officer for striking Lachie Neale in the Cats' thrilling one-point win.<\/p>\n

Rohan was charged with striking Neale in the first quarter<\/a>, with the incident assessed as "intentional conduct, medium impact and high contact". <\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether Geelong will contest the charge at the AFL Tribunal, particularly after Cats coach Chris Scott<\/a> had expressed his confidence that Rohan would avoid a suspension.<\/p>\n

Scott was adamant that Neale had started the exchange between the two players by striking Rohan in the chest, before Rohan reacted with a swinging right arm.<\/p>\n

"I thought Neale struck Gary on the chest and then Gary struck him on the chest," he said.<\/p>\n

"Neale did (start it), the vision is clear. I'm not saying he did the wrong thing, that's footy.<\/p>\n

"I've had a pretty good look at what Gary did and I'm comfortable with it."<\/p>\n

While Rohan was handed a two-match ban for the exchange, Neale was not handed any sanction from the MRO.<\/p>\n

The reigning Brownlow Medallist fell to the ground clutching his jaw, before raising three fingers at Rohan, seemingly indicating that he would be handed a three-match ban.<\/p>\n
