\ufeffHarris Andrews will spend the next three games on the sidelines for the Brisbane Lions<\/a> after he failed to get his ban downgraded at the tribunal.<\/p>\n

Andrews put up a strong front in hopes of overturning a three-game ban for his stray arm that knocked out Bulldogs forward Arty Jones.<\/p>\n

\ufeffIn the third quarter, \ufeffthe Bulldogs kicked out of defence with Jones flying high over Andrews and Dayne Zorko, but he couldn't land the mark.\ufeff<\/p>\n

As Jones rose to his feet he chased the ball but found Andrews' forearm in the process and was knocked to the floor immediately.<\/p>\n

Gary Lyon said in commentary at the time that he didn't feel there was "any intent" in Andrews' actions, whilst Alastair Lynch said he believed there could be a case to answer. <\/p>\n

"He's in some trouble, I would of thought … I think he's got a few worries there," Lyon said in commentary on Fox Footy.<\/p>\n

"Maybe 10 years ago he's got no problems \ufeffbut in the modern day he's got some concern."<\/p>\n

Jonathan Brown agreed\ufeff: "You're responsible for your actions out there … If you do decide \ufeffto put your arm out and block, which you've got every right to do, if it does hit the wrong spot, you're liable."<\/p>\n

The match review officers confirmed the Brisbane co-captain would receive a three-match ban due to careless, high conduct with severe impact.<\/p>\n

But the Lions argued \ufeffthe incident was a shepherd and should be downgraded.<\/p>\n

A series of clips of Andrews' shepherds from last season were presented to the tribunal, with the Brisbane star insisting he was trying to create space for Zorko.<\/p>\n

He said he assumed Jones was on his feet before he went to shepherd him. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I pride myself as a fair player and someone who looks out for the duty of care for all players on the field at all times," Andrews said.<\/p>\n

"It's a very unfortunate accident. I believe I took care, seeing Jones on his feet."<\/p>\n

However, the AFL suggested Andrews was aware that his opponent had lowered his chest and height, but he disagreed.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAfter an hour of pleading his case, a decision was made.<\/p>\n

Andrews is not the only Lions star set for some time on the sidelines,\ufeff with Zac Bailey and Darcy Gardiner also hit with one-game bans due to head high contact incidents.<\/p>\n

Gardiner's ban was put forward to the tribunal\ufeff but his case was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
