Sydney Thunder<\/a> quick Daniel Sams already\ufeff had a colossal task on his hands when he took the ball for the final over of his side's Big Bash League<\/a> game on Tuesday night, with the Hobart Hurricanes<\/a> needing only four runs to win.<\/p>\n

Sams then made the task even harder when he sent down a ball that left him shaking his head and chuckling to himself in disbelief.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes were 6-177 in pursuit of \ufeff181 for victory at Bellerive Oval when Sams steamed in to bowl to Nathan Ellis.<\/p>\n

What came out was a ball that sailed way over Ellis' head.<\/p>\n

The ball was so wayward that wicketkeeper Sam Billings caught it on the full.\ufeff<\/p>\n

It was inevitably called a no-ball, and all of a sudden the Hurricanes needed just three runs from six balls to win.<\/p>\n

"That's a bonus," Brendon Julian said on the Fox Cricket coverage.<\/p>\n

"[Thunder captain] Chris Green's gone, 'Hey, ah, mate, \ufeffwhat happened with that first ball?'"<\/p>\n

Despite that, the Hurricanes actually struggled to get home, with Sams conceding two runs off his second ball and then bowling three consecutive dots.<\/p>\n

However, the first of the dot balls \u2014 a bouncer that flew over Ellis at head height \u2014 should have been called a no-ball. The Hurricanes needed only one run to win at that point.<\/p>\n

Ellis completed the job with a ball to spare, hitting Sams down the ground and collecting a single to secure a four-wicket win for the hosts.<\/p>\n

Nikhil Chaud\ufeffhary top-scored for the Hurricanes with a knock of 41 from 31 balls.<\/p>\n

Fellow opener Mitchell Owen (32 off 14), first drop Ben McDermott (38 from 24) and former Test wicketkeeper Matthew Wade (25 off 16) also made notable contributions.<\/p>\n

Former Test opener Cameron Bancroft top-scored for the Thunder\ufeff with an innings of 61 from 44 as the visitors posted 6-180 from their 20 overs.<\/p>\n

Sam Konstas hit some boundaries before departing in hideous fashion, taking an extravagant cross-bat swing and having his stumps dismantled.<\/p>\n

Konstas survived on 28 when he tried unsuccessfully to ramp fast bowler Billy Stanlake, with the dumped Test opener missing the ball before breathing a sigh of relief as it evaded off stump by mere inches.<\/p>\n

He was then bowled by Stanlake the following delivery, when he cleared his front leg and tried to whack the ball through the leg side, only to have his off stump rattled.<\/p>\n

Konstas struck two fours and a six before departing for 28 from 25 balls.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old copped a hit to the elbow and therefore didn't field.<\/p>\n
